The British Red Cross Society commissioned Sursham Tompkins to replace an existing facility in the heart of Canterbury, bringing additional services together to form a Resource Centre. The site was deep and constrained by adjacent built form & access routes on three sides, restricting the availability of natural light. This drove the roof form and strong front gable window feature, which provided the staff with a glimpse of the cathedral. The project achieved BREEAM ‘Very Good’ rating.
